A tree-house was, and still is an ambition. It was an integral part of the faffing towers project and we (or I) wasted a year on it. We lost a great deal of architect design, structural engineers efforts, time and fees as due to being caught out with the pre-planning application where the planning officers gave the tree-house approval. Unfortunately the planning became a drawn-out process as it was in breach of planning. As we are in green belt new builds are not allowed, with an exception for ‘outdoor recreation’. Despite a lengthy email explaining how we were going to watch birds, do yoga, contemplate the stars the planning officers rightly said this was indoor recreation and, after 18 months we abandoned the plans.
We have a lovely 200+ year old oak tree in the garden that I wanted a floating treehouse in. I was inspired by a swedish treehouse hotel https://treehotel.se/en/rooms/the-mirrorcube Our design is shown in the pics and I also build a frame in the garden in the summer of 2017 to test design ideas.
