The build of our (Jim and Angs) house in Whiteley Woods, Sheffield.
The project started in sept 2014 when we bought a plot of land with a very tired bungalow. We spent a month making the bungalow habitable before living in it
We started the design and planning process mid 2016 using DKMY architects, with Richard the owner and Mike our architect. Mike in particular has been the main architect through the whole process of feasibility, design, planning, detail design and supporting the construction.
Structural design inputs were needed at an early stage .. mainly as I wanted to have a free-hanging treehouse (how silly that was) so Steve from Price Myers has provided design through to ongoing support.
In march 2019 with the weather starting to improve we commissioned the demolish of the house by Galebest and retained QSP Construction to build the shell of the house. I’m now spending a lot of time with Alan – the site manager, Steve – the contracts manager and a plethora of sub-contractors.
The build started easter .. mid april 2019.
In Nov 2018 we purchased a 36′ static caravan which, after much efforts getting down the drive, is sited in the garden. With elec, water and sewage plumbed in we moved in mid-march, right in a storm and frozen water pipes. I think Ang is planning a lot of travels away this year.
