Demolish

!In Feb ’19 we agreed with Galebest a package to demolish the house. We frantically cleared out belongings out of the house, a lot was given away, some went into the static and the rest stored away by our buddy Nick. Nick also provides our regular sustenance at Forge Dam cafĂ©. We (with assistance!) disconnected the electricity, gas and did the ‘soft’ demolish, which involved removing kitchen, bathrooms, heating, fitted wood and floors.

Despite help from our long-standing odd-job-expert Phil and his son-in-law it was the hardest physical work I’d done in years removing all this stuff, smashing all the wood out, loading a skip, burning shite wood and keeping a good amount of floor boards and joists. Ang managed to recycle wood, windows, kitchen units, doors, a loo and furniture to local folk. Another upside was that Lewis got 500 quid for the copper : )

The house was a sorry state by now, and of course we had gone way past any chance of turning back. However it was nothing compared to when the ‘proper’ lads started demolishing the house from 3 april. Steve, Brian and a digger removed the whole thing in under a week.

The demolish was finished a week later, if nothing happens from now I’m left with the most expensive enduro dirt track in the country. A week later QSP, the builders moved in. The site foreman, Alan has to put up with us for the next six months.
