Scuba

There are a number of dive sites to the north and south of Ibiza with dive companies in San Antonio, Ibiza Town, Cala Martina, Portinax and Santa Eulalia.  I’ve done a few dives around Santa Eulalia area which are ok .. (no its not the Red Sea).  In spring the sea is cold and even with a 7mm wetsuit I was freezing on the 2nd dive, its pleasantly warm heading into June and then stays warm thru Oct.
I’ve dived a few times with Punta Dive http://www.puntadive.com in Cala Martina who I found really pleasant folk. They are 15 mins car, 30 mins walk up the coast from Santa Eulalia, near the hippy campsite.

In May 2014 I dived the ‘Don Pedro’.  Accidentally sunk just outside Ibiza harbour in 2007 (insurance jobbie by all accounts) its supposedly one of the best wreck dives in the world. Its the biggest shipwreck in the med, starting depth 25m, max depth 43m and 140m long (you either dive the front or back).  I took some video

Snorkelling

There is great snorkellling around the island.- the water is blxxdy cold in spring, around 15 degrees, its lovely summer and autumn, around 24 degrees- the rocks around the edges of the bays tend to be more interesting with fish and terrain.- its not the red sea, there’s terrain, fish, squid if you’re attentive- the best bit i’ve seen are the limestone rocks to the west of cala llonga, caves, shelf, good fish, stunning light- check out for jellyfish, they can be around, more on the west coast, less on the north and east .. note an onshore winds pushes them in. (dont be paranoid, there’s aren’t that many, unless you’re built like a blind whale and swim directly into them .. you know who I’m talking about). Rub sand on a sting and have a beer. There is an android app ‘ibiza jellyfish’ that records jellyfish sightings.

bTW, I haven’t seen any sharks yet : )

i found this pic at decathlon which is great at showing good snorkelling spots
