MTB and Enduro

Hello all
We’ve had mountain bikes on the island since we came here. Ibiza is not mountainous but there are some nice 400m+ hills and a lot of dirt tracks. The best biking is in the quieter NE half of the island. The first years were spent working out routes .. described here, and now its mostly mix n matching them.

I brought out a crf250l enduro-ish motorbike a few years ago which has been a great bike for the island. Ang is v happy on the back, on and off road and I’ve done most the the mtb routes on it .. sometimes getting into deep shit.

These are a mix of the ‘ibiza’ ones of a good few years ago (nice tracks but many missing signposts), the well-signposted santa-eulalia ones (that are awful in lack of directions), ones I found from enduro races when they leave the plastic tape markers around for weeks, and ones I’ve found. Its now pretty easy to connect these tracks together for new routes.  Most of the tracks can be done from Santa Eulalia, the one to the west I tend to drive to San Joseph, park, coffee (of course) and head off.
My all-time favourite is cruising as near the coast-line as I can between Santa Eulalia up to Es Figural and then back inland. This has got to be one of the worlds best coastline bike rides. Great for congenial cruising and I never get bored with it.
I’ve now hired decent mountain bikes with friends from Kandani in Santa Eulalia so a definite recommendation. Good bikes, good prices and decent folk.
I’ve spent a couple of days riding with Ash of rideibiza.  A decent chap, eco, dedicated mountain bike holiday guy and investing in the developing single-tracks on the island. We did a cracking day in April ’16 on a descent from the islands highest point to the sea .. video is

This is mtb ibiza style, ie the highest peak is 400m or so, and its about minor roads and tracks rather than the Alps or Coedy. We have 29″ hardtails (‘t northern on-one) that seem the right kit. Saying that .. I have found one man-made black run hidden away, (off talaia de san lorenzo)
damn .. word is getting outhttp://singletrackworld.com/2014/05/issue-89-sneak-peek-ibiza-its-like-enduro-or-something/

Ibiza (and perhaps Spain) is pretty fustrating in sorting out your own routes. The map you can get are not the best standard and its never clear whether the smaller roads/tracks are public or private. Most times I explore some of the remoter tracks I hit a gate to a villa and have to backtrack.  Have a look at the routes page.
Its also meant that I’ve had to find mapping technology that helps me find and map routes. Have a look at the technology page.
The Routes sub-page has some downloaded routes and ones I’ve mapped
